The Evolution of Grocery Store Design
The evolution of the grocery store—and the associating functions—is quite fascinating.

COR3 Design is excited to share our recent progress on a significant retail development project in Millbrook, Alabama.
When COR3 Design first started back in 2011, our bread and butter was designing retail spaces for our clients. We were deeply embedded in national chain stores like Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, and Beall’s Outlet–to name a few. Our work took us across the country for site visits and project updates, and we gained licensure in dozens of states.
Since designing our first PGA Superstore, we have worked on five other designs spanning multiple states.
We recently completed a project with Hobby Lobby of Lecanto, Florida. As a longstanding collaborator with Hobby Lobby, we were delighted to have the opportunity to bring the 55,000-square-foot store to life. The building is part of the new Corta Commons in the area and joins other retail operations like PetSmart, Panda Express, and Skechers. We partnered with RealtyLink on the project.
As architectural designers who truly cut our teeth in the retail field, we were tickled to read a story about Swedish retailer IKEA trying to eliminate a core element of their design–-and the backlash that followed from loyal customers.
As architects who design warehouses and other facilities that play a crucial role in supply chain management, we like to keep a close watch on American manufacturing trends. Particularly when those companies work exceedingly hard to keep their supply chain within the continental United States.
We recently kicked off a Burlington retail store project in Sarasota, FL
On the heels of “a tradition unlike any other” and this year’s Master’s Tournament at Augusta National, COR3 is proud to celebrate our collaboration with the PGA Tour Superstore.
COR3 partnered with RealtyLink to design this two-building, mixed use development in Alcoa, TN. The development includes apartments and commercial spaces for restaurants, a nail salon, coffee shop, florist, and more.
