Change is Afoot: Architect Licensure Process

WHAT IF ARCHITECT LICENSURE RETURNED TO ITS APPRENTICESHIP ROOTS?

At COR3, we are always tracking the latest updates in our industry and were pleased to learn there is a possibility of an update to the architecture licensure process. For years, there have been conversations about the challenging barriers of access into the field of architecture for those without the financial resources and time to devote to earning the full credentials. The full process can take seven years and cost as much as medical school.

The field historically adopted an apprenticeship model, where time and experience doing the work led to becoming an architect. This model opened access to more talented individuals to pursue the field and we could not be more supportive of the concept. As firm believers in the expansion of opportunities to more talented individuals, we are excited to track this development.
